With the frequent occurrence of global public health emergencies, emergency language services have become an integral part of national emergency management systems and medical response capabilities, posing new requirements for foreign language teaching in medical colleges and universities. These institutions need to adjust their disciplinary structures and program orientations to enhance their capacity for emergency language response during crises. From the perspectives of emergency language service theory and the development of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses, and taking into account the institutional positioning and talent cultivation goals of medical colleges, this paper explores new pathways for cultivating emergency language competencies among medical students.
