Abstract

In essence, translation is a text produced for a certain purpose and target audience in a target context. In this regard, translators need to determine appropriate translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos theory. Starting from the introduction of Skopos Theory with the consideration of EST texts characteristics, this paper expounds the core idea of the theory — translation expectation decides translation strategies from three aspects: Skopos Rule, Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule, and on that basis, strategies to overcome barriers related to culture were provided.
